Adat/Thrissur: With the aim of enabling students to earn an income alongside their studies through small jobs, three school students in Thrissur have designed a website. The concept focuses on helping students find work opportunities within their local areas. The initiative, conceived by Shreya, Hridhika, and Delna—Plus One students of Puranattukara Sree Sarada Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur—is already drawing attention at its initial stage.

Inspired by models followed in foreign countries, Plus One students Shreya, Hridhika, and Delna of Puranattukara Sree Sarada School are working to make the concept of “study along with work” a reality for students in Kerala. The basic framework of the website they developed is now ready. By registering on the app, users can automatically receive information about suitable jobs and their locations based on the details they provide. The objective of the application is to help students find part-time jobs after study hours and earn an income. The money earned can be used for higher education and other needs, and the initiative is expected to be especially beneficial for students from middle-income families.
Although the initial phase of the idea has been completed, several challenges remain before the application becomes fully operational. The students still need to secure proper technical support and meet development costs. They plan to present their idea at the Young Innovative Programme next month, which will be attended by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
“We aimed to prevent youngsters, including students, from being drawn towards the wrong paths in search of money at a time when digital technology has become deeply rooted in all sectors,” said Shreya, one of the designers.
