A 52-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) attached to the Alappuzha Narcotics Cell was found hanging in a private lodge at Kizhakkenada, Guruvayur, on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Shanthakumar(52), a native of Pollethai in Mararikulam, Alappuzha. He had reportedly been missing since Thursday evening, following which the Alappuzha South Police registered a missing person case earlier in the day. His body was later discovered in a private lodge in Guruvayur. Preliminary information suggests that Shanthakumar had been facing financial liabilities related to house construction. Police have initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
