Thrissur: The Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Action Squad (EE&ANSS) arrested two persons, including the son of retired SP Unnirajan IPS, during an alleged drug deal in Thrissur. Abhijith Unnirajan (31) and his associate Roger V. Devassy (31) were arrested with 5.005 grams of MDMA.
The arrests were made as part of Operation Thunder, a special anti-drug drive being conducted in connection with the Onam festivities. The Thrissur Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Action Team conducted the operation.
The two were arrested near Mohana Pharmacy on the Chiyyaram–Koorkkanchery Road. The operation was carried out at around 8.50 pm on August 18 by a team led by Excise Inspector N. Sudarshan Kumar.
According to the Excise department, Abhijith Unnirajan and Roger V. Devassy were allegedly attempting to transport and hand over MDMA using a scooter bearing registration number KL-08-BS-8482 when they were apprehended.
A case has been registered against the two under Sections 22(b), 25, 29 and 60(3) of the NDPS Act. The case has been registered as Crime No. 40/2026 at the Thrissur Excise Squad Office.
