Thrissur: Excise officials seized narcotic substances allegedly intended for sale during the FIFA World Cup final in Thrissur and arrested two persons in connection with the case. A total of 2.621 grams of MDMA was recovered from the accused.

The seizure was made during a special operation conducted at around 10 p.m. on the previous night. The arrested men have been identified as Sunil and Jishnu, both natives of Mullurkara in Talappilly.

Excise officials recovered 2.621 grams of MDMA from the residence of the first accused, Sunil, and from his Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. They also seized an electronic weighing scale used for measuring the drugs and special packing pouches allegedly used for packaging the narcotics.

Officials suspect that the accused were involved in large-scale drug trafficking. An examination of their mobile phones reportedly revealed that several people had contacted them seeking to purchase narcotics at any cost.

Based on the findings, Excise officials are preparing to scrutinize the bank transactions of both accused and are also monitoring individuals believed to have had dealings with them.
