Thrissur: Police have arrested the son of an 89-year-old man who was found dead inside his house at Madavakkara, Chittissery, in Thrissur district. Investigators allege that the accused killed his father by striking him on the head with a hammer following a long-standing property dispute.
The deceased, Krishnan (89), a resident of Poliyedath Parambil House, Madavakkara, was found dead at his home around 10 a.m. on July 21, 2026. The arrested accused is his younger son, Radhakrishnan (54), who lived with his family on a neighbouring property.
The murder came to light after Krishnan’s elder son, Muralidharan, who lives in Chengaloor, was unable to contact his father by phone. When he arrived at the house, he noticed a foul smell coming from the locked residence and alerted the Pudukkad Police. Officers forced open the house and discovered Krishnan’s body.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the victim had suffered a deep head injury, establishing that the death was a homicide.
According to police, a scientific investigation led the special investigation team to identify Radhakrishnan as the prime suspect. Investigators said the father and son had been estranged due to a property dispute.
