Mulayum/Thrissur: Excise officials seized 10 litres of illicit arrack, 1,200 litres of wash and distillation equipment from Mulayam as part of the Kerala Excise Department’s Operation Thunder and Onam Special Drive. A 29-year-old man, Nithin of Ilayedath, Kottilamparambu, was arrested in connection with the case.

The seizure was made during an inspection based on secret information received by the Thrissur Excise Intelligence Wing. Nithin was allegedly distilling the liquor in a shed near his house.

Excise officials initially approached him posing as customers looking to purchase arrack. After negotiating and confirming the price and other details, other members of the Excise team arrived at the spot in uniform.

Nithin allegedly claimed that he was producing “pure arrack distilled using guava.” The Excise team subsequently seized the liquor, wash and distillation equipment.

The operation was carried out by a team led by Excise Inspector N. Santhosh of the Excise Intelligence Bureau, Assistant Excise Inspectors V.M. Jabbar and K.N. Suresh, and Assistant Excise Inspector M.P. Praveen Kumar of the Thrissur Excise Range Office. Excise officials K.S. Girish, N.R. Raju, Krishnaprasad, Preventive Officer Sijomon, Nithin Madhav, CEOs N.R. Shajith and Anoop Das, Woman CEO N.K. Sija, and Excise Driver T.R. Shaju were also part of the team.
