Thrissur: Nine passengers were injured after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus crashed into the rear of a Taurus lorry at Marathakkara on National Highway 544 in Thrissur on Friday morning. Visuals of the accident have since emerged.

The accident occurred at around 10:15 a.m. The bus, which was travelling from Cherthala to Palani, collided with the lorry after a pickup van moving ahead of the truck came to an abrupt halt. The sudden stop forced the Taurus lorry to brake, and the KSRTC bus following behind rammed into its rear.

All the injured were passengers on the bus. They were shifted to various private hospitals in Thrissur for treatment. The bus driver sustained serious injuries to his leg.

The front portion of the KSRTC bus was extensively damaged in the collision.

Personnel from the Ollur Police reached the spot and initiated further legal and traffic management procedures. The accident triggered heavy traffic congestion on the national highway for a considerable period.
